American Icons

Filed In Design Thoughts

I am married to a man who doesn’t need to be drunk to buy a 50 foot historic motel sign, 500 theater lights or 5000 bolts of discarded fabric. When asked why he saves these random objects he replies “it makes me sick to think they will just end up in a landfill”. While I am not always thrilled about storing the 1970’s Airstream trailer or the collection of bedposts in my back yard, I share his love and appreciation for historic design.

This short clip by Jess Gibson is from an upcoming documentary and is a great commentary on what is happening in our back yards. Slowly American icons are being replaced with mass produced, poorly designed, overpriced s***.
