The Jungle

Filed In Design

I recently finished The Jungle by Upton Sinclair. I was so inspired by the story I planned a visit to The Special Collections and Preservation Division at the Harold Washington Chicago Public Library just to look at the original photos from the Chicago stock yards. It was such a cool experience, I got to wear the white gloves, that I was not quite ready to let go of my new obsession.

So most recently, I worked on a sandbox project and designed my own cover for The Jungle. I quickly discovered there are MANY covers out there, a few good ones, but I thought the world could probably use a few more prototypes.

All images used to create these mockup designs are comps from gettyimages.com

My sketches:

noun | a box or crate used as a makeshift stand by a public speaker:
[as adj.] a soapbox orator.
figurative a thing that provides an opportunity for someone to air their views publicly
chiefly historical a box or crate in which soap is packed and transported.
